It's Done, It's Done!
So after 122 hours of rendering and many disappointed visits to the computer lab here's what I finally got and then printed.

All Gussied Up
After putting lots of random colors on different parts of the fanbot, I found a particular combination I like so much that I just put it everywhere. There are a few other colors, but for the most part it is two-toned. Not sure about giving him a friend now, because he looks really independent and functional. Going to try and put another picture up, but seeing as this render took an hour, may take a bit, although I did turn some settings down. Also, he's missing his face, since I'm on another computer and didn't bring that texture over.

Almost Done
Added a head, fixed up the fan, fooled around with a few other things. The model is practically done, so it's left to textures and environment, which hopefully I can do High Dynamic Range Imaging, to put it in a real environment, since I seem to hate making my own. Hope to have it fully textured/modeled by Tuesday so I can do the HDRI with the remaining time. Maybe fanbot will get a little clocktank friend.

Fanbot Gains Fan
Today I made a fan(yay). Also, I added the kilty thing to the base to make it more interesting, but it looks more ridiculous than anything. Still need to work on the fan; swivel base, electrical cords, a few other bits. Also going to add a head. Hopefully the modeling will be done by Thursday and then start on texturing and HMRI? basically putting it in a real picture. Finally, ignore the colors, they are nonsense.

Fanbot
Okay, I now have the direction I want to go in. This robot has been integrated into a fan; its job is to appropriately direct the fan at the user to provide optimal cooling. So, when activated, the robot is able to move about freely to find the best place to cool from, and it plugs itself in and starts fanning. It also uses the plug to recharge it's own battery and as an awesome tail. Next thing to do is make a swivel mount on the hips, attach a fan, and then probably add a head of some kind. Also thinking of adding something to the front of the hips as it's a little bland (all I have to say is kilt).

Change of Direction
Finished another leg, which clearly contrasts the original one. However, it's starting to shape more like a two legged robot than a tripod robot, so I'm thinking of changing directions a bit. The current plans, I suppose, are to make some funky two-legged, possibly no-armed, robot that some guy threw together out of a junk heap, or some very weird robot starter kit.

Manum Habeo
This is what I've been working on since Tuesday (so about 5-7 hours? hard to tell). The plan is to be a tripod robot that some guy is constructing, so I want to try and have the top off showing the parts inside and have it on a table with parts/tools scattered about. We'll see how it turns out. The main thing is that the robot is not going to be of consistent construction, as shown below, so it should be interesting. Also, the lighting on these pictures is really bad, but I just turned on Global Illumination to see everything clearly.

Final Renders
Here are my final renders for our 3057 project. The Auriga is sitting in pretty much a blank room (I wish I could have added a nice environment too it, but it would have taken too long or looked bad), so it's more of a photo-op room than a real environment. I printed out the bottom one as it showed the Auriga the best, but I like the second one more.

I tried a blue and red version as well.

Things to come
Alright, this should be just about final, since I have to render it out and try to print it tomorrow. Basically played with the textures some, added more details, and then tried to get good lighting on it. Besides the lighting critique, I bet there will be a color critique, but I like these colors. (I might do a render with some different colors on it though, seeing as it would be a commercial product) Anyways, main thing I added was the control panel. Scan your thumb to start it up, and either lay in a course (for those lazy drivers) or probably connect to it with your neural implant (cause we'll probably all have them since computers will be ridiculous) and if all goes to hell push the red button to turn it off. (if you can't read the screen it says "Auriga© Scan Thumb to Start")

Update

Fun with colors
Refined the shape of the "chariot" some more, but mostly focused on the front end and engines. However, I got a little bored and threw some textures on it. Most likely to come next is an engine underneath the "carriage" section so the thing actually hovers back there. Possibly add a small one under the nose as well. Otherwise, I'm just thinking of details to add to it, like putting vents on the "scoop" which would presumably travel through the body and help cool the rear engine. Some things may just end up as textures though.

In The Year 3057
I've started a new project, which is to model something from the year 3057. Since it's kind of hard to guess what may be in the future, I went back to the past and stole something from there and decided to update it with futuristic technology. Either way it should look like it doesn't belong in the present at least. Although I wanted to go the route of Mad Max and Waterworld, I settled on a tamer future where they have new fuel sources and new means of propulsion, which are then applied to common things, like personal transportation. So, I took a chariot from the Romans/Greeks/Celts/etc. and stripped it of its horses and wheels. I plan to have engines replacing the horses and some sort of hovering device to replace the wheels. I'm also pretending the guy won't fly right off when he starts the thing up do to what sci-fi likes to call "inertial dampeners." So here is the rough shape of it with a guy on there for some proportions; messed with the glow effect a bit to make the inside of the engine look cool and I've just been working on the shape.

Interesting
The End Is Here?
Here are the final renders of the scene. Kept the pine cone as is, because it ended up looking a bit better and it was better than an egg shape with a crappy pine cone texture on it. Fiddled around with lighting and I think it's good, but we'll see I suppose. I think I also have to do a new scene with the things thrown about so as to be "interesting" so a few renders of that will be next. It should be fun-ish if nothing else.

Getting Closer
Worked on my USB drive and stick along with some additions to the USB hub. Still have the lizard to do for the key chain and the evil pine cone of doom, but things are starting to come together. I've also started adding textures, most of which (besides the stick which I think looks okay) are placeholders.
